Haverhill Golf Club, nestled in the Suffolk countryside, offers a parkland golf experience that has evolved significantly since its origins. Starting life as a 9-hole municipal layout in 1976, designed with input from ex-Walker Cup Captain Charles Laurie, the club transitioned to member ownership in 1982. A major development in the mid-1990s saw local architect Philip Pilgrem tasked with expanding the course to 18 holes, integrating the original holes with new land. The current 18-hole course, which opened in 1998, is set across two valleys and bisected by the River Stour. It features undulating fairways, strategic water hazards in the form of the river and expanded ponds, and mature trees that define the holes. While not exceptionally long, the course demands accuracy and thoughtful course management to score well, particularly on its greens, which are often highlighted as being among the best in the county.
