Girton Golf Club
Parkland Course in Cambridge, England
Established in 1936 by PGA Professional Allan Gow, Girton Golf Club is a member-run club located on the outskirts of Cambridge, England. Originally a 9-hole course on farmland, the protected Ridge and Furrow layout from the Middle Ages is still visible on the first and eighteenth fairways. The club purchased the freehold in 1965 and extended the course to 18 holes in the late 1970s, with a new clubhouse opening in 1992. While relatively flat, the parkland course is known for its tight, tree-lined fairways and greens rated among the best in Cambridgeshire, demanding accuracy and control. The course features five par threes and a challenging finish, including a long par five. Recent course remodelling and improvements have enhanced its visual appeal with trees and flowering shrubs, and the course is known for its abundance of wildlife, including black squirrels.
