Brancepeth Castle Golf Club

Brancepeth Castle Golf Club, located in County Durham, England, is a parkland course designed by the esteemed architect Harry Colt. Opened in 1924 on the former deer park of Brancepeth Castle, the course is known for its rolling fairways and challenging holes, particularly those incorporating the deep ravine that cuts through the terrain. While not overly long by modern standards at around 6,400 yards, the par of 70 provides a solid test of a golfer's ability. Colt's signature design elements, such as strategically placed bunkers and the use of natural elevation changes, are evident throughout the course. The club has a history of hosting significant amateur events, including the English County Championships and the English Ladies Amateur Championships. The clubhouse, converted from the castle's stables and coach house, adds to the historic ambiance of the club.
