Alwoodley Golf Club, located in Leeds, England, holds a significant place in golf history as the first course designed by the renowned architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie. Established in 1907, the course retains much of MacKenzie's original vision. It is recognized as one of the finest inland heathland courses in England and is consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland. The course is characterized by its natural heathland features, including firm, springy fairways bordered by heather and gorse, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens. The layout runs predominantly out and back, with the inward nine often playing tougher due to the prevailing wind. Alwoodley has a history of hosting significant amateur events, including the English Amateur and the Brabazon Trophy, and has also served as a Regional Qualifying venue for The Open Championship.
