Abbotsley Golf Club

Abbotsley Golf Club, located in the Cambridgeshire countryside, offered a notable golfing experience with its two 18-hole courses, the Abbotsley and the Cromwell, and a 9-hole par 3 course known as the Huntingdonshire. The original Abbotsley course, established in 1975, was later refined in 1986 by Vivien Saunders, a former British Women's Open Champion. This parkland course was known for its tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens, presenting a good test of accuracy and skill. The Cromwell course provided a more open layout with pleasant views, often considered more forgiving. While Abbotsley Golf Club hosted various local and county championships, and also the English Intermediate Championships and two England Rosebud pro-ams, there is no information to suggest it was an Open Qualifying location. The facility also included practice areas, a driving range, and on-site lodging. Sadly, the golf course closed in 2017 following significant damage.
