Machynys Golf and Country Club, located in Llanelli, Wales, features the first Nicklaus designed golf course in Wales, known as Monk's Island. Opened in 2005, this modern links championship course is designed to challenge elite players while remaining enjoyable for higher handicappers due to the availability of up to five teeing areas per hole. The course has hosted numerous championships, including R&A and Ryder Cup Wales events, and is notable for being the youngest course to host an R&A championship. The facility includes a large indoor putting green, a floodlit driving range with TrackMan technology, practice areas, a pro shop, changing rooms, and a restaurant. Half of the course has been designated as wild habitat, supporting diverse wildlife.
