Royal Portrush - Valley

Links Course in Portrush, Northern Ireland

The Valley Course at Royal Portrush Golf Club is an 18-hole links course located in Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Designed by Harry S. Colt, it is a shorter, par 70 course compared to the renowned Dunluce Links, measuring 6,304 yards from the back tees. Situated between the East Strand and the Dunluce course, it lies in a valley between the sand hills along the Atlantic shore and the higher ground of the championship course, offering a more enclosed feel without sea views. Despite being overshadowed by the Dunluce, the Valley is considered a fine test of links golf with well-maintained greens and strategically placed bunkers, gorse, and native fescues providing natural hazards. The course features undulating terrain with humps and hollows and changes in elevation. It hosts one of the qualifying rounds for the North of Ireland Open Championship annually. The club, founded in 1888, offers facilities including a driving range, putting green, short game greens, pro shop, restaurant, bar, and provides services like caddie and club hire.
