Woolton Golf Club, established in 1901, is situated in a leafy suburb of South Liverpool. The club was founded with a notably liberal ethos, being the creation of Louis Samuel Cohen, who purchased the land in 1899 with the vision of creating a golf course. Initially opening as a nine-hole course in late 1900, it was extended to eighteen holes by 1906. The course itself is a mature, tree-lined parkland layout featuring tight fairways and well-bunkered greens. Playing to a par of 69, the 18-hole course measures around 5,747 yards from the white tees. The layout includes a mix of par-3s, par-4s, and a couple of par-5s, with the shorter holes often proving key to scoring well. While not one of the most famous courses in England, it offers a solid test of parkland golf. The club has a history of hosting amateur events and has been a venue for various competitions.
