Thonock Park Golf Club
Parkland Course in Gainsborough, England
Thonock Park, located in the Lincolnshire countryside, is home to two 18-hole courses. Golf has a long history on this site, dating back to 1894 when a course was established on the Thonock Estate by Sir Hickman Beckett Bacon, who became the club's first president. The original 18-hole course was created after World War II and remained in play for nearly forty years before being revamped in 1985 by former Ryder Cup player Brian Waites. This course, now known as the Thonock Park Course, is a traditional parkland layout with tree-lined fairways. A second course, the Karsten Lakes Course, was designed by David Williams and Neil Coles and opened in 1997. This course features fairways routed around five lakes. Both courses have undergone renovations, including work on the bunkers.
