Nestled in the heart of Essex, Rochford Hundred Golf Club offers a journey through golfing history alongside its parkland layout. Established initially in 1893 as Southend Golf Club before relocating to its present site in 1896, the course saw its original design by Peter Paxton. A significant chapter was added in 1924 when the esteemed architect James Braid, a four-time Open Champion, undertook a redesign, leaving his distinctive mark on the course. The club's historical ties extend to its Grade I listed clubhouse, part of Rochford Hall, which dates back to 1483 and has connections to Anne Boleyn. The course itself presents a pleasant round through mature trees and incorporates natural features like ditches and a tidal stream. While perhaps not a perennial headliner on the championship circuit, Rochford Hundred has played its part in the Road to The Open, having previously hosted Regional Qualifying events, providing a stage for hopefuls aiming for golf's oldest major.
