Downland Course in Corsham, England
Kingsdown Golf Club, established in 1880, holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club in Wiltshire and one of the oldest in England. Situated on picturesque downland, the course benefits from natural drainage, allowing for golf throughout the year. Originally laid out by John Allan, the course evolved significantly with a redesign by Charles Kenneth Cotton, incorporating original holes while adding new ones. Subsequent refinements have been made under the guidance of architects Mackenzie & Ebert (Martin Ebert) and Simon Gidman. The course is known for its generous fairways and well-kept greens, set within scenic surroundings near the city of Bath. While hosting various amateur open events, Kingsdown Golf Club has not been a venue for Open Championship Qualifying.
