John O'Gaunt Golf Club (Carthagena)

Nestled in the Bedfordshire countryside, John O'Gaunt Golf Club offers a pair of enjoyable courses, including the Carthagena. Established later than its sibling course, the Carthagena came to fruition through the work of both Fred W. Hawtree, who designed the initial nine holes in the 1960s, and his son Martin Hawtree, who completed the layout with a second nine in the 1970s. This 18-hole course presents a different character to the main John O'Gaunt course, featuring larger greens and quick-draining soil. While not generally considered a championship heavyweight, the club has a notable history, having hosted Final Qualifying for the Women's British Open in 2016.
