Dore and Totley Golf Club ( (Summer))

Dore and Totley Golf Club, established in 1913, is a mature parkland course located in Sheffield, England, near the Derbyshire Peak District. Originally conceived to allow Sunday play when it was prohibited elsewhere in the Sheffield Union, the club's name is derived from the local railway station, which provided transport beyond the city limits at the time. Dr. Alister MacKenzie was invited to view the proposed site and draw up plans for the course, with construction completed in 1915. James Braid later advised on additional bunkering in 1922 to enhance the challenge. The course underwent significant changes in 2005 with the addition of five new holes and the redesign of others, resulting in a 23-hole complex that offers a par 72 summer course playing at approximately 6,547 to 6,763 yards, and a shorter winter course. While situated on subtle contours compared to some of Sheffield's hillier courses, it still provides a good test for golfers of all levels. The club has a strong sense of history, displaying memorabilia from notable players who have visited, including Arthur Lees, a four-time Ryder Cup representative.
