Galway Golf Club boasts a rich history, with golf first played in the area in 1895. The club found its permanent home in Salthill in the mid-1920s, with the 18-hole course, largely attributed to Dr. Alister MacKenzie, coming into play around 1930. The parkland course, noted for its mature trees, challenging gorse, and elevated greens, demands accuracy from the tee. Players navigate a unique underground tunnel to access the initial holes near the coast. The course provides attractive views of Galway Bay and the surrounding landscape.
