Southerness Golf Club

Southerness Golf Club is a renowned championship links course situated on the remote Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Designed by Philip MacKenzie Ross and established in 1947, it is considered one of his finest works. The 18-hole course measures 6566 yards from the white tees with a par of 69, offering panoramic views of Criffel Peak, the Lake District, and the Galloway Hills. Despite its relatively flat terrain, it is considered a tough test of golf, featuring challenging par-4s over 400 yards. The course has hosted several national championships and is noted for its brilliant design that provides a feeling of remoteness and solitude. Visitors are welcome, generally needing to be members of a recognised golf club, and booking in advance is recommended. Facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant, bar, changing rooms, lockers, and hire services for motor carts and pull carts.
