Orkney Golf Club
Parkland Course in Kirkwall, Scotland
Orkney Golf Club, established in 1889, is the oldest and longest of the seven golf courses in Orkney, Scotland. It is situated on the side of Wideford Hill on the west side of Kirkwall. The course is an 18-hole, scenic parkland course with panoramic views across Kirkwall and the Northern Isles. Despite being under 6,000 yards, it offers a challenging test with out of bounds on ten holes and heavy rough/gorse. The course is fairly flat and considered an easy walking course, featuring some gorse bushes and bunkers. Significant upgrades were carried out starting in 2020, guided by golf course architect Stuart Rennie, including rebuilding greens and surrounds on the 1st and 3rd holes. The club has a modern clubhouse with bar and catering facilities, as well as changing rooms and lockers. Visitors are welcome daily, though tee times may be restricted on competition days.
