The Royal Belfast Golf Club ( Golf Club Course)
Parkland Course in Holywood, Northern Ireland
The Royal Belfast Golf Club, established in 1881, holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club in Ireland. Granted its 'Royal' status in 1885, the club moved to its present location at Craigavad in 1925. The current parkland course was designed by the renowned architect H.S. Colt and opened in 1926, with his original layout largely remaining to this day. Situated on the shores of Belfast Lough, the course offers a strategic challenge that prioritizes accuracy over raw power. Golfers can expect meticulously maintained fairways and subtly contoured, quick greens, complemented by scenic views over the lough and the Antrim plateau. The course features strategically placed bunkers and some holes that play along the water's edge. It has been recognized as the IGTOA Parkland Golf Course of the Year and named Best Parkland Golf Course in Ulster.
