Carnalea Golf Club

Carnalea Golf Club, located in Bangor, Northern Ireland, is an 18-hole, par 69 course that has been a golfing site for over 100 years, officially founded as a municipal club in 1927. The course, situated west of Bangor on the shores of Belfast Lough, offers stunning panoramic sea views. The course is divided into two nines by the Belfast to Bangor railway line and covers approximately 88 acres. Although not overly long at around 5700 yards, it presents challenges with tricky doglegs, numerous bunkers, and some blind tee shots, requiring accuracy and careful play. The course is described as having a parkland layout despite its seaside location, with the front nine having more of a links feel and the back nine more parkland. Notable holes include the signature par-3 ninth with an elevated green and views, and the longest par 4 finishing hole with a blind tee shot. Facilities available include a pro shop, putting green, practice area, changing rooms, clubhouse with bar and restaurant, and equipment hire such as trollies, buggies, and clubs. Golf lessons and club fitting can also be arranged. Carnalea Golf Club was recognized as the number one Hidden Gem in Northern Ireland by Tourism Ireland in 2024.
