Wallasey Golf Club is a classic links course situated on the Wirral Peninsula in England, overlooking Liverpool Bay and the Irish Sea. Founded in 1891, the club has a rich history, with the original layout designed by Old Tom Morris. Over the years, the course has seen modifications by notable architects such as James Braid and Donald Steel. Wallasey is perhaps most famous as the place where Dr. Frank Stableford devised the points scoring system that bears his name, with the first Stableford competition held here in 1932. The course is known for its undulating fairways, natural sand dunes, and firm, fast greens, presenting a stern test, often made more challenging by the prevailing winds. Wallasey has also served as an Open Championship Final Qualifying course on multiple occasions, including in 1930 (when Bobby Jones qualified here en route to winning The Open at nearby Hoylake as part of his Grand Slam), 1936, 1956, and most recently in 2006.
