Royal Liverpool Golf Club, affectionately known as Hoylake, is a historic links located in England. Founded in 1869 on a former racecourse, it quickly gained prominence, receiving its 'Royal' designation in 1871. The original layout by Robert Chambers and George Morris was expanded, with significant architectural contributions later made by Harry Colt. Hoylake holds a special place in the history of amateur golf, having hosted the inaugural Amateur Championship in 1885 and the first international match between Great Britain and the United States in 1921, the precursor to the Walker Cup.
