Mapperley Golf Club (18 Hole Course)

Mapperley Golf Club, situated just four miles from the centre of Nottingham, offers a parkland course with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Originally known as St. Andrews Institute Golf Club, it was founded in connection with a local church institute. The initial tricky 9-hole course was designed by Tom Williamson, a notable professional from Notts Golf Club. In 1932, a separate entity, Mapperley Golf Club, was formed, notably requiring fences around the greens in its early days to deter grazing cattle – a detail even reflected in the club's badge. The current 18-hole course, designed by John Mason, opened in 1983. The course is known for its rolling fairways and provides a good test of putting on its greens. While not a perennial Open Qualifying venue, the club does host Open competitions.
