Huddersfield Golf Club

Huddersfield Golf Club, also known as Fixby, stands as one of England's venerable golfing institutions, founded in 1891. The course was initially laid out by Tom Dunn, a prominent architect of his era, with subsequent refinements made by notable figures such as Alex Herd (the club's first professional and an Open Champion), Herbert Fowler, Fred Hawtree, Donald Steel, and Dr. Alastair Mackenzie. The parkland course, set within the impressive grounds of the Grade II listed Fixby Hall, presents a championship test extending to over 6,400 yards. Players can expect a layout featuring USGA-standard greens and strategic bunkering, the latter of which has seen recent renovation to restore traditional character while remaining relevant to the modern game. The course is routed in two returning loops from the clubhouse. The demanding par-4 1st and the lengthy par-5 5th are notable holes on the front nine, while the sharp dogleg par-4 12th offers a stern challenge on the back. Huddersfield has a history of hosting significant amateur and professional events, including the PGA's Lawrence Batley Seniors Tournament and various national and international ladies' competitions. The club has also been a venue for the DP World Tour Qualifying School First Stage.
