Headingley Golf Club, established in 1892, holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club in Leeds. Initially a nine-hole course, it relocated to its current site in 1906. The course's design has been influenced by renowned architects Dr. Alister MacKenzie and Harry Colt, who were involved in remodelling and advising on bunkering in the early 20th century. Situated in a rural setting near the 12th-century Adel Church, the course offers varied terrain that includes elements of heathland, moorland, and parkland, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience with memorable holes and expansive views. The course is known for its year-round playability. Headingley has hosted significant amateur events, including the English Amateur Championship in 2021 and the Yorkshire Amateur in 2023. It has also served as a venue for Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship in the past.
