Nestled within 200 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, Hanbury Manor features a championship golf course with a compelling history. Originally a 9-hole layout designed by the legendary Harry Vardon in the early 1900s, the course was expanded to 18 holes and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus, opening in 1991. The course presents a tale of two nines: the outward half is characterised by a more open, modern American style with significant elevation changes and water hazards, while the inward half adopts a traditional parkland feel, winding through mature trees. The course, a par 72 stretching over 7,000 yards from the back tees, demands precision and strategy. It has a history of hosting significant professional events, including the Men's English Open and the Women's European Open. While not currently an Open Qualifying venue, it has previously held this status.
