Garforth Golf Club

Garforth Golf Club, situated in Yorkshire, England, traces its origins back to 1912 when local enthusiasts decided to establish a course. Dr. Alister MacKenzie, renowned for his work at Augusta National and other notable courses, was commissioned to design the 18 holes that opened in 1913. The course is set in mature parkland, featuring tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and greens that can be challenging. Water hazards, in the form of the Cock and Carr Becks, also come into play on several holes, adding to the course's character. The Cock Beck has a historical connection, reputed to have run with blood during the Battle of Towton in 1461. While not a championship course on the scale of some of MacKenzie's more famous designs, Garforth provides a good test of golf with gently undulating terrain. The clubhouse, originally built in 1935 and extended over the years, offers a comfortable environment. The club has hosted the England Golf Northern Counties Seniors Championship.
