Steeped in history as one of England's oldest links courses, Furness Golf Club, founded in 1872 by Scottish migrants, offers a traditional test of golf on the Furness peninsula in England. The club began as a modest 6-hole layout before expanding to 9 and eventually 18 holes. The course, situated on Walney Island, provides a links experience with views of the Irish Sea and the distant Lakeland hills. While not a regular fixture on the Open Championship qualifying rota in recent years, Furness has a rich heritage and has hosted various county championships. The challenging layout features notable holes, including a series of demanding 'shore holes'.
