Freshwater Bay Golf Club, situated on the Isle of Wight, offers a quintessential downland golfing experience with stunning views of the Solent and English Channel. Established in 1894, the club has a rich history, evolving from an initial 9-hole layout to its current 18 holes. The course is known for its natural undulations and the strategic challenge posed by coastal winds. A notable feature is the seventh hole, where the fairway navigates through Bronze Age burial mounds. While not a regular host for Open Qualifying, the club does hold open competitions. The free-draining chalk downland ensures the course remains in good condition year-round, making it a viable option for winter golf in the south of England.
