Rees Jones is a renowned American golf course architect, often nicknamed "The Open Doctor" due to his frequent work renovating courses chosen to host major championships like the U.S. Open. He is known for his strategic design principles, emphasizing challenging but fair layouts that test the world's best players while remaining enjoyable for amateurs. A second-generation architect following his father, Robert Trent Jones Sr., Rees Jones has designed or renovated over 250 courses worldwide, including notable venues such as Bethpage Black, Torrey Pines (South Course), and Congressional Country Club.
