St Mellons Golf Club

Nestled in the South Wales countryside between the cities of Cardiff and Newport, St Mellons Golf Club offers a classic parkland golf experience. The course, designed by the esteemed architect H.S. Colt, first opened for play in 1937, becoming a members club in 1964. Colt's signature style is evident in the layout, which features undulating fairways and strategically placed, sometimes deep, bunkers. The greens are known for being tricky, providing a good test for golfers of all abilities. With views towards the Bristol Channel, the course provides a pleasant backdrop for a round. Notably, the 3rd hole holds a special place in the club's history, reportedly being a favourite of three-time Open Champion Henry Cotton. While not a frequent host for major championship qualifying, St Mellons is regarded as one of the premier parkland courses in South Wales, offering a well-maintained and engaging challenge.
