Founded in 1890, The Island Golf Club in County Dublin occupies a unique peninsula setting. For decades, access was notably by boat across the estuary until a road was built in 1973. The course, a classic links laid out among impressive dunes, has evolved through the work of several architects including Fred Hawtree, Eddie Hackett, Martin Hawtree, and most recently Mackenzie & Ebert (Martin Ebert). It presents a challenging test, demanding precise shot-making amidst the natural contours and coastal breezes. The club has a history of hosting significant amateur events and has served as a Regional Qualifying venue for The Open Championship on multiple occasions, including for the upcoming 2025 event.
