Old Head Golf Links is a world-class, 18-hole links course located on a dramatic 220-acre diamond-shaped headland that extends over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland. The course, which opened in 1997, was designed by a team including Ron Kirby, Paddy Merrigan, Eddie Hackett, Dr. Joe Carr, and Liam Higgins, with construction by Haulie O'Shea. Nine of the holes play along the cliff tops, and all eighteen holes provide stunning ocean views. The par-72 course ranges from 5,413 to over 7,100 yards from the tips and features five par 5s, five par 3s, and eight par 4s, with a minimum of six tees per hole to accommodate various handicap abilities. The course is designed as a walking course, and caddies are strongly encouraged. Old Head Golf Links also offers luxury on-site accommodation, fine dining, a spa, and practice facilities including a warm-up range, putting green, chipping green, and practice bunker. The headland itself has a rich history dating back to pre-Christian times.
