Nestled in the heart of the Kent countryside, West Malling Golf Club's Spitfire course offers a parkland golf experience named in tribute to the iconic World War Two aircraft that once graced the skies over the nearby airfield. Opened in 1974 and designed by Max Faulkner, a former Open Champion, the Spitfire is the longer and more undulating of the club's two 18-hole layouts. The course presents a fair challenge with strategically placed bunkers and water features that demand accurate drives and precise iron play. While not typically featured in discussions of the UK's top 100 courses, it provides an enjoyable round for golfers of varying abilities. The signature 18th hole, a par three, requires a well-struck medium to long iron to an undulating green, with a lake guarding the left side.
