Established in 1924, Stocksbridge & District Golf Club offers a genuine taste of upland heath golf in South Yorkshire, England. Founded originally by a local steelworks for its employees, the course evolved from an initial nine holes, expanding to fifteen in 1982, and finally to its current eighteen-hole layout in 1990. While not long by contemporary standards, its hilltop setting ensures exposure to the elements, and the terrain, characterized by small greens often tucked away and surrounded by rough, demands precision and strategic shot-making. The course provides expansive views of the surrounding landscape, including the Peak District National Park. It presents an honest test of golf where accuracy is often rewarded over power.
