Pike Hills Golf Club, situated just outside the historic city of York, is a parkland course with a history dating back to 1904 when it was founded as the Knavesmire Golf Club. The club moved to its current location in 1946, and the course has matured over the years, offering a delightful eighteen holes with tree-lined fairways. The layout is notable for being routed around the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Askham Bog Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, which influences play on several holes, adding a touch of wilderness to the round. The course provides a varied test of golf with a blend of long and short holes requiring strategic thinking and precise shot-making. Ponds and a dyke from Askham Bog also come into play, and the greens are known to be among the trickiest in the north of England. While not a well-known Open Qualifying location, a golfer from Pike Hills Golf Club did compete in a regional Open Championship qualifying event in 2011.
