Lindrick Golf Club

Lindrick Golf Club, situated on the border of South Yorkshire, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1891. Originally laid out with nine holes by Old Tom Morris and Buff Wilson, the course was extended to eighteen holes in 1894. While various architects have contributed over the years, including notable input from Alister MacKenzie and later Fred Hawtree, Donald Steel, Cameron Sinclair, and Ken Moodie (Ken Moody), the layout has remained largely consistent since the mid-1930s. Lindrick is renowned as one of Britain's finest inland courses, characterized by a mix of heathland and moorland terrain framed by silver birch trees, heather, and gorse. The course demands accuracy, penalizing errant shots. It holds a significant place in golfing history as the host of the 1957 Ryder Cup, where Great Britain and Ireland secured a memorable victory. Lindrick has also hosted other prestigious events, including the British Masters, the Women's British Open, and the Curtis Cup. The course features several memorable holes, such as the downhill, blind approach par-five 4th and the challenging par-three 18th, which is featured in the '500 World's Greatest Golf Holes'. Lindrick is consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in the UK and has previously served as a Regional Qualifying venue for The Open Championship.
