Hessle Golf Club, established in 1898 as the Hessle Tennis & Golf Club, holds a place in the golfing landscape of East Yorkshire. The club relocated to its present site at Raywell in 1975, making way for the construction of the Humber Bridge. The course, a parkland layout, was designed by the notable pairing of Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, opening for play later that year. While not an Open Championship Qualifying venue, Hessle has hosted regional and county-level competitions, testament to its standing in the area. The layout is known for its gently undulating terrain, providing a pleasant walk, and features USGA-specification greens that offer a genuine test of putting. Strategically placed bunkering and mature trees shape the holes, demanding thoughtful play.
