Bramshaw Golf Club (Forest)

Steeped in history, Bramshaw Golf Club's Forest Course is reputed to be the oldest golf course in Hampshire, with origins tracing back to around 1865 when Philip de Crespigny laid out holes for the enjoyment of his guests. Located within the stunning New Forest National Park, the course is set on heathland with natural undulations and meandering streams influencing play. The character of the course remains largely untouched by modern machinery, offering a traditional golfing experience where local ponies, cattle, and deer are frequent, if sometimes distracting, playing partners. While major modifications have been limited due to its location within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a reconfiguration in 2018 saw adjustments to some holes, including the creation of a new par four 15th. The course provides a unique test of golf, demanding accuracy to navigate the natural hazards and firm, fast-running fairways reminiscent of a linksland feel. Notably, Bramshaw Golf Club has been associated with Hampshire county golf events, including hosting rounds for the Hampshire Golf Order of Merit.
