Beckenham Place Park Golf Club (18-Hole Course)

Beckenham Place Park Golf Course, once a popular public golf facility in South London, has a notable history, although it is now closed. The golf course was established in 1907 as part of the Foxgrove Golf Club and became one of England's first municipally owned courses in 1934 after the London County Council purchased the park. Situated within the expansive Beckenham Place Park, known for its ancient woodland and heritage features, the course offered an undulating parkland layout. Over the years, it was known for being a busy public course, reportedly one of the busiest in the UK at its peak. The course meandered through the park's mature woodland, featuring natural elevations and tree-lined fairways. While it provided a convenient and accessible option for golfers in the city, particularly those new to the game, it was not widely recognized as a championship venue or a top-tier course. The golf course ceased operations in 2017 as part of a wider park regeneration project by the London Borough of Lewisham, which aimed to restore the park's natural heritage and enhance facilities for a broader range of visitors. There is no record of Beckenham Place Park Golf Course ever being used as an Open Qualifying location; nearby clubs like Sundridge Park Golf Club and Langley Park Golf Club have previously held regional Open Qualifiers.
