Major Charles MacKenzie

Alister MacKenzie (1870-1934), often referred to by his rank Major, was a highly influential British golf course architect. He is best known for designing some of the world's most celebrated courses, including Augusta National (with Bobby Jones), Cypress Point Club, and Royal Melbourne Golf Club. MacKenzie's design philosophy emphasized natural integration with the landscape, strategic bunkering, and creating courses that offered strategic challenges and enjoyment for golfers of all abilities.
