Originally laid out in 1891 and reimagined by DJ Russell in 2017, The Machrie is now one of the most exciting modern links layouts in the UK. Routed seamlessly through towering dunes with wide-open vistas of the Atlantic, the course offers a perfect blend of history, playability, and visual drama.

It’s a joy for all handicaps, with options for match play, Stableford, or team formats. Your Golf Sherpa trip can include fully prepared live scoring, leaderboards, formats, and pairing sheets - all managed for you via our app.

And if you’ve still got energy to burn? The 6-hole Par 3 Wee Course and all-day access to short game areas, driving range, and Trackman studio are at your fingertips.

The Stay

From contemporary hotel rooms to private lodges, The Machrie’s accommodation is warm, elegant, and designed for the ultimate wind-down after golf. Every space includes luxurious beds, modern bathrooms, and oversized windows letting the Hebridean light pour in.

Breakfast is included each morning, and every stay comes with access to the hotel’s spa facilities, cinema room, and whisky snug. For groups, we can arrange a dedicated space for scoring, drinks, and games - or upgrade your stay to include private dining or chef-hosted BBQs.

How many people do we need to book?

Our packages are priced based on full lodge occupancy (8 people). We do offer 2, 4 or 6 bed lodges for different packages, however this package is set for 8 people in two 4 person lodges.

Can we stay for more than one night?

Absolutely. We have a two night package on our website.

Do we get to choose our tee times?

We’ve pre-booked premium tee times for every group to ensure availability — but if the times don’t suit your plans, we’ll do our best to adjust them. Just let us know your preferences when booking.

Is transport included in the package?

No - our packages don’t include transport. However, we’re happy to advise on the best travel options for your group.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Scottish weather can be unpredictable, but most courses remain open in most conditions. If a round is cancelled due to course closure, we’ll work with the venue to arrange alternatives where possible based on what suits you.

Do I need a handicap to play?

Most courses welcome golfers of all abilities. However, certain venues may request handicap certificates for championship tees — we’ll advise you when this applies.

How do payments and deposits work?

We take a non-refundable deposit at booking to secure your trip, with the balance due closer to your travel date. Full details are listed in the trip details and at checkout.

Is there an age requirement?

All guests must be 18 or over to book and participate in our trips.
