The Royal Curragh Golf Club
Heathland Course in The Curragh, Northern Ireland
Dating back to 1858, The Royal Curragh Golf Club holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club on the island. Situated on the historic Curragh plains, an expansive area of natural grassland and heath, the course offers a characterful golfing experience. The present layout, designed by Patrick Merrigan and opened in 2007, is set on free-draining soil, ensuring playability throughout the year. While not among the most widely known courses in the UK, its history and setting on this ancient landscape provide a unique backdrop for a round. The terrain is gently undulating heathland dotted with mature trees, presenting a genuine test of golf in a tranquil environment.
