Oughterard Golf Club ( Championship Golf Course)
Parkland Course in Oughterard, Northern Ireland
Nestled at the gateway to Connemara in County Galway, Oughterard Golf Club presents a parkland layout shaped by a history of development and refinement. While golf has roots in the area dating back to the early 20th century, the present course took shape following land acquisition in the late 1960s and was formally established in 1974. Originally laid out by John Harris, the course saw significant upgrades to its greens and tees in the late 1990s under the guidance of Irish golf course architect Patrick Merrigan. The design incorporates the natural landscape, featuring mature native trees and traditional limestone walls, offering a pleasant round with views of the surrounding countryside and mountains.
