Headfort Golf Club (Old)
Parkland Course in Kells, Northern Ireland
Headfort Golf Club's Old Course, situated near the town of Kells in County Meath, traces its origins back to 1928, with the initial nine holes opening in 1930 on land from the Headfort Estate. The course was later extended to a full eighteen holes in 1956, establishing the mature parkland layout enjoyed today. Characterised by gently undulating terrain and framed by magnificent specimen trees, the Old Course offers a classic test of golf. Fairways are generally wide, leading to large, well-maintained greens that are typically lightly bunkered. While perhaps less heralded than its newer counterpart, the Old Course remains a fine example of traditional parkland golf and has previously hosted events such as PGA championships and Inter-Provincial Championships.
