Greenore Golf Club
Links/Heathland Course in Greenore, Northern Ireland
Greenore Golf Club, established in 1896 by the London & North Western Railway Company, is set on the scenic Cooley Peninsula. Initially opened as a 12-hole layout, it was extended to 18 holes the following year. The course, enhanced by Eddie Hackett in the 1970s and 80s, offers a blend of traditional links and heathland terrain with picturesque views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. While not an Open Championship qualifying venue, the club hosted a significant professional tournament in 1902 featuring golfing legends of the era. The course presents a fair test with well-bunkered, links-style greens and water hazards on some holes, requiring strategic approach shots.
