County Longford Golf Club
Parkland Course in Longford, Northern Ireland
County Longford Golf Club, founded in 1894, stands as one of Ireland's established parkland courses. Originally a nine-hole layout, it expanded to eighteen holes in 1975 and underwent a significant redesign in 2005. The course is characterised by mature trees and strategically placed water features, which come into play on several holes, including the closing one. Situated on a hill, the course offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The design, with contributions from Eddie Hackett and subsequent work by Mel Flannigan/Irish Golf Design, presents a layout where placement is often key. While not a championship venue steeped in Open Qualifying history, it provides an enjoyable round with some memorable holes featuring water-protected greens.
