Nestled on the remote Mullet Peninsula in County Mayo, Carne Golf Links offers a truly authentic links experience. The course is the final links design of the revered Irish architect Eddie Hackett, who laid out the original 18 holes which opened in 1993. Hackett was known for his minimalist approach, working with the natural contours of the land, and Carne is a testament to this philosophy, with fairways and greens seemingly emerging from the dramatic, towering sand dunes. An additional nine holes, designed by Jim Engh and Ally McIntosh, were later added, bringing the total to 27 and allowing for different routings, including the Wild Atlantic Dunes course. Carne is renowned for its rugged beauty, challenging winds, and a layout that demands strategic play and accurate ball striking. It has gained recognition as one of Ireland's premier links courses and hosted the Irish PGA Championship in 2021.
