Carlow Golf Club (Deerpark Course)

Carlow Golf Club, home to the esteemed Deerpark Course, boasts a history stretching back to 1899. Originally founded as the Leinster Golf Club, it moved to its current parkland setting on the Bruen Estate in 1922 with a layout by Cecil Barcroft. Significant changes were later made in 1937 by the notable architectural duo of Tom Simpson and Molly Gourlay. The course is characterised by its undulating terrain and sandy subsoil, offering a playing experience often likened to inland links golf and ensuring year-round playability. Elevated tees, strategic doglegs, and well-protected greens are features players will encounter. While not a frequent venue for Open Qualifying, the course has a strong championship heritage within Ireland, hosting national amateur events and being home to the long-running Midland Scratch Cup.
