Ballyliffin Golf Club (Old Links)
Links Course in Ballyliffin, Northern Ireland
Ballyliffin Golf Club's Old Links, situated in Northern Ireland, is a classic links experience dating back to 1973. Designed primarily by Eddie Hackett with later refinements by Nick Faldo, the course is known for its wonderfully undulating terrain and natural layout. The fairways twist and tumble, placing a premium on controlling the ground game, and the greens, while often large, feature subtle and not-so-subtle contours. The bunkering is strategic, demanding careful shot placement. While perhaps less dramatically hilly than its neighbour, the Old Links offers a most enjoyable and authentic test of links golf, often praised for its natural feel. The club has a history of hosting significant events, including the European Seniors Open and the Irish Ladies Close, and notably served as a stroke play qualifying venue for The Amateur Championship in 2024.
