Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course located in Stranorlar, County Donegal, Ireland, situated about 1 km from Stranorlar. [6, 7] Founded in 1957, the course was initially nine holes and expanded to 18 in 1978. [6, 10, 13] Designed by P.C. Carr, the course is known for requiring every club in the bag and features tree-lined fairways and views of the Donegal Mountains and the Finn River Valley. [3, 4, 6, 7, 13] The dramatic par-5 7th hole, played around Lough Alan, is a signature hole. [4, 7] The club has undertaken extensive drainage and improvement works, resulting in greens that conform to USGA specifications and are considered among the best in the North and West of Ireland. [3, 4, 7, 16] A new clubhouse was built in 1994 and opened in 1996. [10] The club offers a thriving youth development program and has produced professional golfers. [10] Visitors are welcome daily. [10]
