Athenry Golf Club
Parkland/Heathland Course in Oranmore, Northern Ireland
Athenry Golf Club, known historically as "The Nomads" due to its various locations since its founding in 1902, settled at its current parkland and heathland site near Galway in 1977. The present 18-hole layout, designed by the late Eddie Hackett and enhanced by Eddie Connaughton, opened in 1991. The course offers a pleasant test, built on a limestone base ensuring year-round playability. Its characteristics include tree-lined fairways and several holes venturing into adjoining woodlands, notably featuring challenging par 3s and a memorable signature 12th hole. While not an Open Qualifying venue, Athenry has hosted Provincial and National championships.
